LEP Flashlights: A Breakthrough Technology in the Lighting Industry

LEP flashlight beam

A new type of flashlight called the LEP flashlight has appeared in the past three years. Its super long beam distance attracts people. As a flashlight businessman with sensitive business sense, you have a lot of questions, and the most important one is should I start the business, and can I profit from it?

Reading this article helps you understand the LEP flashlight, and you can make the right decision after reading it.

What is an LEP flashlight?

LEP(Laser excited phosphor )flashlight is a new technology in the lighting industry. An LEP flashlight is also called a white laser flashlight. Although it is known as a white laser flashlight, it is not a white laser.

Is the LEP flashlight belong to a laser flashlight?

An LEP flashlight is not a laser flashlight.

The light-emitting principle of LEP is to focus a blue laser beam on the coating of the fluorescent crystal and produce yellow fluorescence. Yellow fluorescence is combined with the remaining unabsorbed blue light, creating white light.

The light emitted from the flashlight is no longer the original laser light but the new synthetic light.

LEP flashlight advantages

LEP flashlight gathered all blue lasers through a convex lens at a point and then reflected out. The luminous area of LEP is smaller than regular LED, so LEP is a spotlight. The high collimation of LEP light is close to the laser to get a super long beam distance. When the wavelength of light is, the penetration is more substantial.

LEP flashlight is a monochromatic color, and its super intense fog penetration helps it get a long beam distance.

LEP flashlight application

The LEP light beam is a spotlight. The beam distance is several times more than the LEDs. LEP lighting products are suitable for high altitude search, sea rescue, field search, hunting, and remote indication.

LEP flashlight is an ideal tool for family defense.

LEP flashlight is suitable for foggy weather.

The LEP flashlight is suitable for the particular use of various on-site lighting and signal such as ice houses, public security, prisons, electric power, airports, harbors, troops, minerals, etc.

LEP flashlight is suitable for the particular use of lighting and signals in frontier defense, public security, prison, electric power, airport, pier, army, factories, and mines.

Why is the LEP flashlight so expensive?

The LEP uses more than one laser, costing the sum of several lasers.

Unlike LED, the fluorescent functional materials of LEP need to withstand more than ten times the intensity of the laser bombardment. So, LED has higher requirements on material technology.

LEP is a new technology. It hasn’t yet achieved economies of scale as LED. It contains more expensive components.

Are LEP flashlights illegal to use in my area?

Whether LEP flashlights are legal or not is controversial in many areas.

Some countries, such as Canada, and some American states, such as California, consider LEP flashlights as laser flashlights. So, it’s illegal to use.

Whether LEP flashlights are legal or not is controversial in many areas.

Is LEP flashlight dangerous?

The luminous principle of LEP light does not bring additional unique damage. The LEP flashlights are no more dangerous than any standard LED flashlight. But because its light source is more relatively concentrated, LEP light is considered a super high-power light. It is not recommended for any official to point it directly at anyone’s eyes, which may cause retinal damage.

Certification required for selling LEP flashlights

Generally, to import or sell LEP flashlights, the Laser Product Safety Certification will be requested. The LEP flashlights need to be in accordance with FDA IEC 60825 class 1. LEP flashlight protection request class III equipment. Different countries and regions may have additional requirements. Please refer to your local customs and laws for details.

LEP flashlight warning

  • Please do not aim an LEP beam at people.
  • Please do not aim at mirror glass or other reflective materials; you will hurt yourself with the reflected light.
  • Do not aim at aircraft, vehicles, or other running equipment.
  • Please use an LEP flashlight following your local laws and regulations.
  • The LEP flashlight is suitable for professional users, including military personnel and inspectors. It is not a civilian industrial product.
  • LEP flashlight users must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Please keep the LEP flashlight out of the reach of the children.

Is LEP better than LED light?

In my opinion, there is no clear answer.

LEP light has incredible efficiency and beam distance, and LED light has a broader beam. LEP is suited for carrying out particular tasks, such as long-distance search, rescue, and hunting. Led lights are versatile and more suitable for the daily use of people.

Will LEP replace LED in the future?

We can see that LEP has some limitations, such as being expensive, illegal to use, and not a civilian industry. But it’s reported that LEP lighting will replace LED in ten years as LEP lighting is a “point light source”, so people might combine LEP lighting with optical fiber technology in the future. These two might collide with a vast application prospect. Let’s expect the development in the future.

Is it worth increasing the LEP flashlight to your business scope? After reading this article, I am sure you have your answer.

LEP flashlight is new to the flashlight industry. And the LEP technology is much more stable than four years ago. Despite some limitations, the super long-distance straight beam differs from LED flashlights. If your potential customers are concerned about long beam distances, It’s worth trying. And now is the right time to start the LEP flashlight business, but first of all, work out the certificates before starting.
